Pen and Pencil Holders

You’ve seen the pyramids and Little-Critters I make with resin moulds, now let me show you my pen holders.

When I say a pen holder, you know it doesn’t have to just hold pens.  Yes, you can put these on your desk to hold pens, pencils and that sort of office things.  If you think outside the square (or circle!), you could put one in the bathroom to hold toothbrushes or nail-files.  You could put a few in the workshop to hold screwdrivers, the uses are endless.

Just like the pyramids and critters, coloured resin is poured into a mould.  Once the resin is set, the mould is simply peeled off.

I’ve made lots of these pen and pencil holders, in various colours, in both round and square shapes.  Once we get our site store up and running in the coming weeks, you’ll see some of these for sale.

Pyramid Lights

Fairy lights aren’t just for Christmas displays.

Carefully placing fairy lights into the pyramid resin mould can produce amazing results.  As each coloured layer of resin goes in, I lay the lights around so they will be visible from each side of the finished pyramid.

The problem with putting lights in my resin pyramid, is where should the batteries go?  From the bottom of the pyramid is a wire connecting to a battery box with two AA batteries.

Once the pyramid is set, we use it to get the size for the wooden base.  The base lifts the pyramid up enough for the battery box to be hidden underneath.

As much as I love this creation, I had to say goodbye to it this week when its new owner took it home.  Don’t worry though, there will be more.  Simon is a bit angry with me for not taking more photos as this was being made, because they would have looked great as part of this blog post, so I will just have to make more pyramids with lights so we can show you the creation process.

Watch this space…we’ll post a link to a future blog post here to show how these pyramids are made.

In the hallway at my front door

I've been playing around with resin for some time, and over the last couple of years I've accumulated a lot of creations.  It's now time to put them all on display. In my hallway, at the front door, is an old blue bookshelf, filled with lots of my work.  Beside that...

Not on this website!  Here on MadeByMandy.art unicorns are real, because I make them from resin!

Yep, I have a unicorn mould.  Check out these resin unicorns…

Resin Pyramid

One of my favourite moulds for resin pours is a pyramid.

The first one I made didn’t work out, something went wrong and the mould tore when I was taking it out.  After I bought a replacement mould, my pyramids have all worked out amazingly well.

The pyramids are poured in layers, to produce different colours.  I’ve even started putting lights in my pyramid resin pours, but I’ll talk about that more in a future post.

Like I said, I love making resin pour pyramids, so there’s sure to be more featured on this website, so keep coming back to check out my latest projects.

Resin Rabbits

I wrote recently about my little critters, made from resin.  Various colours of resin, poured into different shaped moulds.  When the resin hardens, the mould is peeled back to reveal a little critter that sits in the palm of your hand.

While we are trying to create content for this brand new website, I thought I’d show-off these little rabbit critters.  I especially like the bright pink rabbit.

Little Critters

We are slowly working towards getting this brand new website up and running.  Before the site “goes live” I need to create some content, which sounds like a great excuse to tell you about Little Critters.

Bunny Rabbit, Bear, Reindeer, Unicorn and more.  These little guys are made from resin, we just pour into a silicone mould wait 12 to 24 hours and “wow!”  To get creative, I’m experimenting with different colours poured into the moulds to produce amazing results.

These little guys are just a few centimetres tall and easily fit into the palm of your hand.  They look cute sitting on the end of a shelf, or even beside your bed.

I’m sure this wont be the last time I write about my Little Critters, so stay tuned for more coming soon.
