Pancreatic Cancer Ribbon

A purple cancer ribbon represents Pancreatic Cancer.

Last year my husband, Simon, was Diagnosed with cancer in his pancreas.  He had major surgery and spent a long time in hospital.  The second half of the year Simon spent on chemotherapy.  For his last chemo session, I made this resin-art version of the purple cancer ribbon.

We presented the art piece to the staff in the cancer ward on Simon’s last day, hopeful that we wouldn’t need to return.

Simon’s first couple of check-ups this year were clear.  We thought he had made a full recovery, but his June check-up showed the cancer had returned, so after a few more tests, it was back onto chemotherapy from August.

Because of the Covid restrictions, I haven’t been able to go with Simon to chemo this time around.  Simon hasn’t seen my art piece on display, but whether it’s hanging somewhere, or in a storeroom, I’m still proud of my resin art cancer ribbon, and gratefull to the staff of the hospital cancer wards.

This will be a Lazy-Susan

I’ve done plenty of circular resin-pour pieces before.

This one is a little different though.  A friend asked me to make this with colours she chose, which is not that unusual, except she plans to turn this into a lazy-susan!

I’m looking forward to being invited over for dinner (after lockdown of course) and spinning this around in the centre of their dinning table.

Carefully placing fairy lights into the pyramid resin mould can produce amazing results. As each coloured layer of resin goes in, I lay the lights around so they will be visible from each side of the finished pyramid.
